We’re seeking a strategic and hands-on Business Development Associate Director to join our growing Business Development team. This role is key to building partnerships that accelerate the adoption of nanopore sequencing in clinical, applied, and industrial markets.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Associate Director, you’ll lead the development of external business partnerships—from initial concept through to execution and ongoing relationship management. You’ll collaborate across ONT to assess opportunities, build business cases, and structure deals that support long-term growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the main point of contact for one or more market segments within the business development team
  • Developing a deep understanding of clinical and industrial applications of ONT’s technology
  • Collaborating with Commercial, Clinical Solutions, Marketing, Product Management, Finance, and Legal teams
  • Building and maintaining business cases and financial models for new opportunities
  • Preparing and presenting partnership proposals for executive review
  • Supporting negotiations from term sheet to final agreement
  • Managing a dashboard of active partnership projects
  • Promoting and adhering to ONT’s partnering frameworks and processes
  • Mentoring junior team members as the team expands
  • Any other duties as required within the remit of the role
  • What We’re Looking For

    We’re seeking someone who is:

  • Experienced in business development, ideally within biotech, healthcare, or industrial sectors
  • Skilled in building strategic partnerships and navigating complex deal structures
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally and managing multiple stakeholders
  • Proficient in financial modelling and commercial analysis
  • A strong communicator with excellent project management skills
  • Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven track record in business development or strategic partnerships
  • Experience with Salesforce, Power BI, and Tableau (advantageous)
  • Background in clinical or industrial markets is a plus
