Overview

The post holder will lead, motivate and manage the Financial services team whilst taking the lead on the Trust's financial governance. The individual will work closely with finance and operational colleagues, project groups and other partner organisations, including other NHS organisations to ensure the provision of efficient and effective financial/activity information.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the provision of financial support to the Trust, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, professional accounting standards, internal control and the achievement of financial targets.
  • Play a leading role to ensure the ongoing financial viability of the Trust and advise on corrective measures to maintain a strong financial risk rating.
  • Act as a senior finance professional supporting one or more of the Trust contracts, including leading financial negotiations, monitoring and review.
  • Represent the Chief Financial Officer on occasion and deputise for the Deputy Chief Finance Officer on financial issues in their absence.
  • Support a transformational approach to governance and risk management, fostering team working and a culture of continuous improvement.

Benefits and Additional Information

High Cost Area Supplement – 15% of the basic salary (minimum £4,714, maximum £5,941 per annum, pro rata for part time).

Probationary period applies, internal applicants are exempt unless they are currently part way through a probationary period.

Induction and Welcome

New starters are fully welcomed and inducted. All new starters join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive two‑week induction, including mandatory training, system training, equipment allocation, meetings with the executive team, senior managers and drop‑in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
