Job Description
You will be involved in delivering:
Expert Witness services – assisting Quantum experts in producing expert reports for adjudication, litigation and other dispute resolution venues.
Recovery services – working with contract and commercial specialists to provide strategic advice to clients whose projects or major programmes are in commercial distress.
Successful applicants will work in a team undertaking detailed analysis of construction projects in the UK and internationally, supporting the development of Quantum estimates and evaluation of claims.
Key responsibilities include:
Adopting a forensic and exploratory mindset to assess claims.
Applying strong knowledge of the construction industry, construction contracts and law.
Valuing transparency and collaboration with clients and stakeholders.
Working independently where required and adapting to the working methods of others.
Providing direction to staff on specific tasks and supporting the interface with the client and other consultants at all project stages.
Drafting detailed expert witness reports for use in formal dispute resolution proceedings.
Assisting clients, lawyers and counsel in developing their positions where required.
Staying abreast of developments within your technical area of expertise.
Acting as an ambassador championing the Contract Services delivered by Turner & Townsend in the industry.
Understanding SOX control responsibilities and adhering to them where applicable.
Qualifications
Relevant construction and engineering industry experience of 10+ years.
A construction-related degree qualification and/or legal qualification.
Experience leading the pursuit of claims up or down the supply‑chain, resulting in successful negotiated resolutions.
Ability to understand and articulate client requirements and desired outcomes.
Critical analysis of project and major programme performance to identify root causes of distress.
Development of contract and commercial strategies to recover performance aligned with client outcomes.
Effective stakeholder management with clients and at all levels of the supply‑chain, including chairing meetings with clients and other advisors.
Reviewing and assessing contemporary project records to establish quantum associated with claims and/or disputes.
Working knowledge of relevant applications and technologies in quantity surveying and commercial management (e.g., BCIS, Cost‑X, CEMAR).
Providing strategic advice on proceeding or amending the basis of claims.
Hosting informal chats or engaging recruitment team through the dedicated portal on Smart Recruiters.
