A highly reputable claims and disputes consultancy based in Sheffield, Yorkshire, is looking to hire an Associate Director – Quantum.There is also an exciting opportunity for the Associate Director to open an office in a strategic location such as Birmingham, Leeds, London, or Manchester.The successful candidate will likely be an existing Associate Director or Quantum and Claims Senior Consultant with experience in a consultancy providing dispute resolution services.If this sounds like you, then this position could be a great career move. The client base is primarily in the built environment (schools, hospitals, residential), but candidates from all project backgrounds will be considered.Responsibilities and DutiesAs an Associate Director, you will report directly to the Managing Director and manage your own assignments related to claims on live projects. Your services will include:Examining and advising on construction contractsProviding expert, commercially focused counsel to prevent conflictsAssisting with delay and loss mattersCollaborating with Delay Analysts on disputed and time-related issuesProviding coaching and training on commercial, contractual, and temporal issuesReport writing and representing clients in tribunalsCollaborating with solicitors on construction-related disputesBusiness development activitiesDesired Skills and ExperienceApproximately 10 years postgraduate experience, ideally in Quantity SurveyingExperience in providing professional construction commercial and contractual adviceStrong knowledge of Quantity Surveying duties, including managing variations and changesExperience working on projects in the built environment is preferred, but other project experience will be consideredInvolvement in managing or supporting formal disputes (adjudication, arbitration, litigation) is advantageousExcellent communication skills and client-facing experienceGood knowledge of standard forms of contract such as NEC and JCTProficiency in Microsoft OfficeQualifications/Educational RequirementsDegree-level qualification or equivalent is desiredMembership in a professional body such as RICS or a Masters in Construction Law is desirable; candidates working towards these qualifications may be consideredCompany OverviewThe hiring company is a multi-disciplinary construction consulting firm specializing in risk analysis, expert witness, coaching, training, project management, commercial management, and dispute avoidance.
