Overview

We’re looking for an experienced and driven Operations Director to lead a large-scale hard services FM and maintenance contract across the South West. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strategic, people-focused leader to take ownership of a £70m+ contract, delivering operational excellence, driving performance, and fostering strong client relationships.

As Operations Director, you’ll be accountable for the overall delivery, financial performance, and service quality across multiple sites with complex infrastructure. You’ll lead a high-performing operations team, ensure compliance with contractual and statutory obligations, and continually look for ways to improve efficiency and value for money.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate, and develop multi-disciplinary operational teams to deliver exceptional service standards across the region.
• Oversee contract delivery, financial performance (P&L ownership), and achievement of KPI and SLA targets.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders, clients, and supply chain partners.
• Drive a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all areas of operation.
• Ensure compliance with all legal, statutory, and contractual obligations.
• Lead on business planning, budgeting, and performance reporting.
• Support and influence wider business strategy and contract development initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience leading large-scale FM or maintenance contracts with full P&L accountability.
• Strong background in hard FM services and multi-site operational delivery.
• Exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills – able to inspire, influence, and engage at all levels.
• Commercially astute with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and contract management.
• Excellent understanding of health & safety, compliance, and risk management.
• Strategic thinker who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments.
• Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
