A vacancy has been created within the senior nursing team in Integrated and Specialist Medicine. The postholder will hold a portfolio to include workforce, finance and digital on behalf of the Director of Nursing and will be expected to deliver successful performance across these three domains with the support of the wider nursing, operational and corporate team. The postholder will be joining a senior nursing team which fosters a culture of collaboration, facing challenges as a team while providing leadership to a broad spectrum of services trust wide, both in hospital and community, across seven highly diverse directorates and multiple clinical speciality teams. We are seeking candidates with significant senior operational experience, to be able to adapt to a leadership role across the full breadth of our services. The candidate will need to have the energy and flexibility to support unexpected operational challenges, the resilience to manage a high pressured environment and the ability to coach and support colleagues to find a way through challenges. The candidate will need an attention for detail which stands up to public scrutiny in financial decision making and be able to inspire teams to work differently to deliver the highest standards within our financial envelope. The Clinical Group is seeking a highly professional and flexible leader who will lead with positive energy and prioritise people at all times.

Main duties of the job

This post will work collaboratively across all disciplines and the postholder will provide professional leadership to our nursing and wider MDT workforce with a focus on successful integration of multiple services across primary and secondary care, utilising the expertise they bring to patient pathways. Specific strategic priorities the postholder will be responsible for include the development of specialist nursing career pathways, supporting emerging roles and to outreach into local community to attract people into the profession. They will be responsible for developing financial savings initiatives across clinical environments, requiring difficult decision making and the ability to use data and risk management tools to justify decisions. This may involve leading teams into the emerging developments in digital healthcare. A keen interest in the benefits of AI and remote technology and different ways to deliver care will be key to leading our teams towards the future. They will play an important role in the successful delivery of our key objectives including improved performance, successful integration of services & patient experience. The role will foster a culture of wellbeing through support and healthy challenge to our teams, enabling them to reach their full potential, utilising the full breadth of our diversity. The post-holder will represent the Clinical Group and Trust at cross-organisational meetings and deputise for the Clinical Group Director of Nursing.

  • Good financial knowledge

  • Registered Nurse
  • First Degree
  • Management qualification or equivalent.
  • Masters or extensive equivalent experience including specialist training in health, leadership or management
