The Role

This post offers an exciting opportunity to join NHS Lanarkshire Psychological Services at senior leadership level. The postholder will take an autonomous lead role to deliver a clinically effective and high quality service within the Adult Psychological Therapies Service. As Professional Lead for this service, the postholder will have responsibility for the operational management and strategic leadership of all 10 locality based Adult Psychological Therapy Teams. This includes directly line managing a team of Lead Consultant Psychologists and having delegated budget management and oversite of resource allocation, recruitment and performance management. As Deputy Director of Psychological Services, the postholder will support the Director of Psychology in strategic planning and operational issues across all NHS Lanarkshire Psychological Services.

What we'll need you to bring

  • Clinical or counselling psychologist with HCPC registration.
  • Advanced, post-graduate doctoral level of knowledge of psychology theory, knowledge, and clinical practice, including highly developed knowledge of lifespan developmental psychology, models of psychotherapy, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, and two or more distinct psychological therapies.
  • Within a management context, experience of the full range of professional management activities including defining appropriate establishments, grading and recruitment procedures, performance and appraisal.
  • Experience of managing a psychology service budget.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and management skills at a senior level and experience of professional management of qualified and pre-qualified clinical/counselling psychologists and other professional groups.
  • Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical or counselling psychologist demonstrating extensive professional/NHS management experience across a range of specialties/services.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups presenting with the full range of clinical severity across a full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, inpatient and residential care settings.
  • Experience of teaching, training, and professional and clinical supervision at postgraduate level.
  • Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

    It would be great if you also have

  • Post-doctoral training in leadership and/or management.
  • Experience in professional and strategic leadership, long-term strategic planning, and service development.
  • A record of having published in peer-reviewed or academic/professional journals and/or books.
