Group Head Workforce Development and Recruitment | PG Dip Human Resource Management Location: Across New City College campuses (East London & South-West Essex) • Hours: Full-time, full-year • Contract Type: Permanent

We are seeking a strategic and experienced estates professional to join New City College as our Deputy Group Director of Estates. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for ensuring our multi-campus estate is safe, sustainable, and fit for purpose—supporting high-quality teaching, learning, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead capital works, refurbishment, and maintenance programmes.
  • Manage hard and soft facilities management services across the group.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, fire, asbestos, legionella, and other statutory requirements.
  • Oversee procurement, contractor performance, and budget management.
  • Support the development and implementation of the College’s Estates Strategy.
  • Drive sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives.
  • Lead cross-campus teams and promote consistency of service delivery.

Who You Are

  • Degree-qualified with professional membership (e.g. IWFM, CIBSE).
  • NEBOSH or IOSH certified with strong health & safety management experience.
  • Proven track record in building services, capital project delivery, and compliance.
  • Skilled in budget management, procurement, and contractor oversight.
  • Excellent communicator and strategic thinker with strong leadership skills.
  • Experienced in managing diverse teams and developing operational excellence.
