Job Title: Deputy Medical Director of Occupational Health
Location: Remote
Salary: Up to £125k FTE
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Part Time (2/3 days per week)

Role Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a hands on Deputy Medical Director of Occupational Health to join our team. We are looking for a reliable and motivated professional with excellent interpersonal skills. Our desired candidate will play a pivotal role in providing visionary leadership and strategic direction to the occupational health team. This position involves undertaking a variety of clinical duties, including medical assessments, management referrals, and offering expert medical advice across occupational health services. Additionally, the role includes overseeing administrative responsibilities specific to the Deputy Medical Director of Occupational Health, ensuring seamless integration of clinical and leadership duties. Some travel, mostly to our clinic in Aberdeen would be required, particularly in the first few months to help build an understanding of the company, working alongside the Medical Director of Occupational Health.
As part of the MCL Medics team, your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead and manage MCL Medics’ Occupational Health services during the absence of the Medical Director.
- Serve as a deputy for the Medical Director, providing timely updates on daily operations, issues, or complaints.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures across network clinic partners and address non-conformities promptly to mitigate risks.
- Contribute actively to business innovation team discussions to drive growth and improvement.
- Support the enhancement of clinical service quality, with a focus on adopting and integrating the online Occupational Health system.
- Mentor, train, motivate, and supervise the clinical team while collaborating with administrative and managerial staff.
- Participate in senior management meetings to develop and implement business and clinical strategies in the Medical Director's absence.
- Represent the company in client meetings and build strong professional relationships.
- Act as a medical advisor to allocated clients and oversee occupational health advisors serving external organisations.
- Ensure the ongoing excellence of our standards by maintaining and advancing our SEQOHS accreditation.
- Conduct essential clinical duties, including medicals, management referrals, and other occupational health services, alongside handling related administrative responsibilities.
- Perform any additional duties required to meet the demands of the role effectively
- GMC - Full registration with a licence to practice in the UK
- Previous experience as an Occupational Health Physician
- DOccMed/AFOM/MFOM desirable
- Medical Review Officer training and experience desired
- OEUK desirable
- Understands the need to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for clients and service users.
- Demonstrates openness to learning from others and improving services.
- Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Familiar with OH systems.
