About the Role
Tenure: 2-year fixed term full-time. Location – London, UK
Invest and Trade Western Australia acts as the Western Australian Government’s ‘front door’ to assist investors and businesses wanting to engage with the State’s world‑leading industries, while also providing support to local business to reach their export potential. Through its Perth Hub and extensive network of international offices, Invest and Trade Western Australia undertakes strategic engagement with government and industry stakeholders to attract investment and promote trade opportunities for Western Australian business to support the State’s economic development and diversification priorities.
Invest and Trade Western Australia is seeking a dynamic Director Business Development to support the Agent General and Invest and Trade Western Australia London Office in driving investment and trade outcomes for Western Australian businesses across the United Kingdom/Europe region. This pivotal role will be championing Western Australia as a premier destination for investment and trade, spearheading proactive business development initiatives and cultivating relationships across government, industry and institutional networks.
The Director will design and deliver targeted investment attraction and trade promotion strategies that enable Western Australian companies to secure foreign direct investment and expand into the United Kingdom market. A key part of the role involves supporting businesses pursuing trade and investment opportunities, while initiating and managing activities that elevate the profile of Western Australia and its industries across the region.
We are seeking a candidate with significant experience and a deep understanding of trade and investment activities relevant to Western Australia’s priority sectors and the United Kingdom market. The ideal applicant will demonstrate a strong record of facilitating knowledge sharing across political, commercial and industrial sectors, along with the ability to apply conceptual and critical thinking to resolve complex issues and identify new opportunities for economic development. Proven experience in building networks, developing collaborative relationships and leading teams is essential.

To be eligible for this position, candidates must be legally authorised to live and work in the United Kingdom at the time of appointment. Relocation support and visa sponsorship are not available for this position.
