Known for delivering innovative, sustainable, and client-focused engineering solutions, we are now seeking a highly experienced Director of Fire Engineering to lead and grow our Fire Engineering division in London. Role Overview As the Director of Fire Engineering , you will be responsible for strategic leadership, team development, project delivery, and client relationship management across a broad range of sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, transport, and infrastructure. This is a key leadership role requiring technical expertise, business acumen, and a proven track record in managing complex fire engineering projects. Key Responsibilities Lead and develop the Fire Engineering team in London and contribute to the and international growth strategy. Provide technical oversight and direction across fire engineering projects to ensure high standards of quality, compliance, and innovation. Maintain and grow existing client relationships and lead business development efforts to secure new opportunities. Work collaboratively with other directors and technical leads across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions. Represent the business at industry forums, conferences, and networking events. Ensure all projects comply with UK Building Regulations, BS and EN standards, and relevant fire safety legislation. Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers through structured development plans. Oversee financial performance, resource planning, and project profitability for the Fire Engineering division. Provide strategic input into company-wide initiatives, including ESG, digital transformation, and R&D. Qualifications & Experience Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with relevant professional affiliation (e.g. IFE, IStructE, ICE, CIBSE). Degree in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline; MSc in Fire Safety Engineering desirable. Minimum 12+ years of experience in fire engineering consultancy, with at least 35 years in a senior leadership or director-level role. Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing high-value, complex projects. In-depth knowledge of UK fire safety regulations, codes, and best practices. Demonstrable commercial acumen, including business development and P&L responsibility. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills. Desirable Experience working on international projects or across multiple jurisdictions. Familiarity with digital tools and software such as FDS, Pathfinder, PyroSim, and Revit. Experience in fire risk assessment and performance-based design.
