With a transformation over the past 2 years the CTO will play a key role in shaping the future of the team, instilling the right culture and ways of working, and supporting the change required for technology to underpin the continued growth of the UK business.**What you’ll be doing:**The Director of IT Operations and Service Delivery is responsible for leading the strategic direction, operational excellence, and continuous improvement of the company’s global IT infrastructure, workplace technology, and end-user support services. This role ensures the reliability, scalability, and security of core systems while delivering a seamless and productive technology experience for employees across all locations and brands.The position plays a critical role in aligning technology operations with business objectives, driving digital transformation, and fostering a culture of service excellence. The Director will oversee infrastructure modernization, cloud optimisation, workplace innovation, and service delivery optimisation to support business growth and agility.The Director will work with the Group IT function to ensure best alignment and delivery of provisioned services to the UK business.**You will be required to:****Infrastructure Operations**:* Ensure high availability, performance, and resilience of all infrastructure systems* Lead cloud migration/optimisation strategies and hybrid infrastructure optimisation* Implement proactive monitoring, incident response, and disaster recovery plans**Workplace Technology**:* Drive innovation in digital workplace tools and employee experience* Standardise endpoint configurations and improve device lifecycle management* Collaborate with HR and Property to enhance work environments**Service Delivery**:* Oversee UK IT support functions including service desk, field support, and remote assistance* Define and monitor SLAs, KPIs, and customer satisfaction metrics* Introduce automation and self-service capabilities to improve efficiency**Governance & Risk**:* Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations* Conduct regular audits and risk assessments* Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to mitigate threats and vulnerabilities**What you’ll need to have:****Technical Expertise**:* Deep understanding of enterprise infrastructure including networking, cloud platforms (Azure), virtualization, storage, and identity management.* Experience with workplace technologies e.g. Microsoft 365, endpoint management, collaboration tools, and unified communications.* Familiarity with, and implementation of ITSM platforms (e.g. ServiceNow) and automation tools**Leadership & Strategy**:* Proven ability to lead cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams* Strategic thinker with experience in developing and executing multi-year technology roadmaps aligned with business objectives and growth plans.* Research and evaluate emerging technologies and trends, making recommendations for new systems and software to improve operational efficiency and competitiveness.* Strong vendor management and negotiation skills**Methodologies & Compliance**:* Proficient in ITIL, Agile, and DevOps practices* Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, GDPR, etc.)* Experience of aligning and deploying a service-based models successfully into complex organisations* Support the formulation and manage business continuity and disaster recovery (DR) plans to ensure high availability and resilience of critical systems.**Education & Experience**:* Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)* Minimum 10 years of experience in IT leadership roles, with at least 5 years in a director-level capacity* Experience managing budgets and large-scale transformation initiatives**What’s in it for you:*** Competitive Base salary* Company Car* Discretionary bonus* Private Medical* Retirement savings plan* Life assurance* Enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption leave for anyone expecting or adopting a child* A wide range of voluntary benefits including holiday buying, discounted gym membership, car salary sacrifice scheme, Cycle2Work, Benenden Healthcare and more.* Access to a wealth of health and wellbeing services including access to online GP appointments and mental health support* WorkPerks – A platform home to hundreds of all your favourite high street and online discounts via the provider Reward GatewayWe're proud to be part of STARK Building Materials UK and dedicated to providing top-quality products and exceptional service to our customers.
