Business Development Director – Contract Catering & B&I

Location: London or Brighton (national remit)

Salary: £65,000 + excellent commission plan + travel expenses + hybrid flexibility

Reporting to: Managing Director


A leading name in contract catering and B&I foodservice is seeking a commercially focused Business Development Director to spearhead growth across an expanding national portfolio. Role Overview

In this senior commercial role, you’ll lead the full business development function, focusing on identifying new opportunities, securing major clients, and strengthening the organisation’s presence within the B&I and contract catering market.

You’ll collaborate closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team, influencing decision-making and supporting the growth strategy across all service lines.

Key Responsibilities


Winning New Business

  • Develop and implement a sales plan for venues, sports, leisure and B&I contract catering
  • Build a strong pipeline of corporate clients, consultants and high-value prospects
  • Lead tender processes from start to finish, including presentations and pitch delivery
  • Analyse market trends and competitor activity to identify new commercial opportunities
  • Provide accurate sales reporting, forecasting and pipeline management


Client Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with key clients and partners
  • Attend site visits, tastings and commercial meetings to support the sales journey
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and resolve any issues quickly and professionally
  • Support contract renewals, retention activity and account development


Team Collaboration & Leadership

  • Mentor and support sales and venue teams to ensure best-in-class performance
  • Lead regular sales meetings and contribute to wider business planning
  • Promote a positive, collaborative culture across departments


Commercial & Operational Accountability

  • Deliver revenue, growth and profitability targets
  • Assist with annual budgeting and financial presentations
  • Maintain accurate CRM data and ensure all processes follow company policy


What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in business development within B&I, contract catering, venues or hospitality
  • Strong pitch, tender and proposal management skills
  • Exceptional communication, networking and negotiation ability
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders including Board-level
