Business Development Director – CRO (UK, Remote) – Location: Remote (UK-based); Sector: Contract Research Organization (CRO) / Life Sciences; Employment Type: Full-time. We’re seeking an experienced and results-driven Business Development Director to join a growing Contract Research Organization (CRO) supporting clients across pharma. This role offers full remote flexibility in the UK and the opportunity to play a key role in expanding strategic partnerships across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a commercial strategy to drive new business and key account growth across the UK and Europe.
- Identify, target, and engage key decision-makers within pharmaceutical organizations.
- Lead the end-to-end business development cycle, from prospecting and proposal development to bid defense presentations and contract negotiation.
- Partner closely with operational, scientific, and proposal teams to develop tailored, client-specific solutions.
- Represent the company during client meetings, bid defenses, and industry events, articulating service value and differentiation.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure long-term collaboration and repeat business.
- Provide regular market intelligence, competitor insights, and input into strategic planning.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance service offerings and support company growth initiatives.
Key Requirements
- Proven track record (8+ years) in business development or commercial roles within a CRO or life science services organization.
- Strong understanding of clinical development, preclinical, or laboratory services.
- Demonstrated success in leading bid defences and securing high-value contracts.
- Established network across the pharma industry.
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or related discipline (advanced degree preferred).
