Our client is a leading brand within the furnishings space. They operate across multiple channels but a key pillar for growth is their D2C ecommerce platform. As such we seeking a visionary and results-driven Director of eCommerce to lead our digital growth strategy.

Job Summary

The Director of eCommerce will be a key leader in the business, responsible for the overall strategy, performance, and day-to-day operations of our entire multi country eCommerce channel. This role requires a strong blend of strategic thinking, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of the homewares and retail landscape. You will be accountable for driving revenue growth, enhancing customer experience, and optimizing all aspects of our online presence, from marketing to site performance and logistics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive eCommerce strategy that aligns with the company's overall business goals. Identify new opportunities for growth, market expansion, and channel optimization.
  • Revenue & P&L Management: Own the eCommerce P&L. Define, track, and report on key performance indicators such as revenue, conversion rate, AOV (Average Order Value), customer acquisition cost (CAC), and customer lifetime value (LTV).
  • Digital Marketing: Oversee all digital marketing efforts, including SEO, SEM (PPC), paid social media, email marketing, affiliate marketing, and content marketing. Optimize campaigns to maximize ROI and customer acquisition.
  • Website Management & UX: Lead the development and continuous optimization of our eCommerce website. Focus on improving user experience (UX), site navigation, product discovery, and the checkout process.
  • Merchandising & Product Management: Work closely with the merchandising and product development teams to ensure a seamless online product catalogue. Implement effective merchandising strategies, including product recommendations, cross-selling, and up-selling.
  • Customer Experience: Champion a best-in-class online customer experience. Monitor customer feedback, analyse data, and implement initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Utilize analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Shopify Analytics) to monitor performance, generate insights, and make data-driven decisions. Prepare and present regular reports to the executive team.
  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing eCommerce team. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Technology & Systems: Stay current with eCommerce trends and technology. Evaluate and recommend new tools, platforms, and integrations to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience. Manage relationships with technology partners and third-party vendors.
  • Logistics & Fulfilment: Collaborate with the operations team to ensure a smooth post-purchase experience, including order fulfilment, shipping, returns, and inventory management.

Qualifications

  • 5-7+ years of progressive experience in eCommerce, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or director-level role, preferably within the homewares, home goods, or a related consumer products industry.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling a successful eCommerce business, achieving significant revenue growth.
  • Deep expertise in Shopify (or similar platforms like Magento, Salesforce Commerce), Google Analytics, and various digital marketing platforms.
  • Strong understanding of all key digital marketing channels and how they work together to drive a cohesive strategy.
  • Highly analytical and data-driven, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate a clear vision to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Creative and strategic thinker with a passion for homewares and design.
