Director of Engineering and Infrastructure

The Infrastructure team is responsible for operating, maintaining and continuously improving our scalable, robust, secure and performant platform to support both our growing customer base and our engineering organization. This role leads the team of infrastructure engineers, to drive innovation in infrastructure processes, focused on operational excellence. This is a role that should lead how we can use AI technology to improve speed and the developer experience.
Develop and implement infrastructure strategies and solutions, including networks, cloud services, databases, and storage systems, ensuring systems are scalable, secure and compliant, efficient, and performant.
From planning and discovery, through to delivery and support - utilizing agile processes and practices. The Infrastructure team has its own ambitious roadmap, but we also collaborate closely with Engineering squads to deliver complex transversal initiatives, and look at how we can constantly improve the developer experience.
This person is the lead for our engineering on-call process we have in place across our company.
Manage budget and resources for infrastructure projects and operational environments, ensuring efficient utilization while staying within budget constraints and leading our cloud cost optimization strategy.
This will include implementation of disaster recovery projects.
Management and growth of engineers - through 1:1s, performance reviews and objectives, it is important for all that we are able to deliver work of a high standard, in a sustainable manner, and engineers are able to learn, develop and grow their skills and career.
Collaborate closely with other engineering teams, product managers, and business leaders to align infrastructure capabilities with business needs and growth.
Understanding of regulatory frameworks like GDPR, ISO27k etc.
An advocate for AI technologies and constantly stays up to date with modern technologies.
Solid understanding of networking, storage, security, containerization and orchestration
Experience with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD, automation), and creation of developer golden paths.
Track record resource planning and roadmap creating experience
Experience managing and growing a distributed engineering team
AWS as our cloud compute platform
RDS (PostgreSQL, MySQL), Kafka, Redis
Frontend is React
Backend services are developed in NodeJS (TypeScript)
