Director of Engineering – Corporate & Investment Banking Technology

Director of Engineering is required to join the Cross Product team of a global investment banking business. This is a permanent position at Director level, based in London. This role will pay a base salary between £90,000 - £120,000 (based on experience) and hybrid working (3 days in office).

This person will lead engineering and DevOps across the bank’s Cross-Product Platforms, providing technical and strategic direction for systems supporting key Group Functions such as Risk, Finance, and Regulatory Reporting. The Head of Engineering will oversee a distributed team of 30+ engineers and developers across London, Dublin, and India, driving high-quality software delivery, modernising legacy technology, and establishing consistent engineering and platform standards. The role requires a seasoned technology leader with experience in large, global banking environments, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to lead transformation across complex, multi-domain environments.

Key requirements:

  • Proven background managing globally dispersed engineering teams (20-30+ heads) in global banks.
  • Experience with Microsoft-based legacy systems (.NET, C#, SQL, Azure, on-prem/cloud) and emerging technologies including Linux, Java, microservices, and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Camunda).
  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), version control (GitHub/GitLab/BitBucket), backend/frontend frameworks (Spring Boot, Angular, React), cloud and data platforms (Azure Databricks, Data Lake), monitoring, logging, and test automation tools to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions.
