Overview

We are working with a superb M&E Contractor seeking to appoint an Engineering Director (or equivalent) to join their London based team. A Chartered Engineer with the gravitas and intellectual horsepower to drive performance, compliance and innovation across operations.

The post holder will act as the technical lead for all things engineering, setting the standard for engineering excellence in the business. Responsibilities include oversight of high voltage systems, grid connections, and advanced commissioning, with broad and encompassing experience across design, engineering and project delivery.

Working with consultants, supply chain specialists and internal teams, you will ensure every project meets the most rigorous standards and is delivered in line with the business’s high expectations. This role requires leadership, mentoring, and the ability to influence across strategic and technical domains.

Salary for the role is in the region of £130,000 - £150,000 with a package reflective of role seniority.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical lead for all engineering activities, setting and maintaining engineering standards across the business.
  • Oversee engineering aspects of projects including high voltage systems, grid connections, and advanced commissioning.
  • Collaborate with consultants, supply chain specialists and internal teams to ensure projects meet rigorous standards and client expectations.
  • Mentor, influence and lead teams, being comfortable in both strategic board discussions and technical reviews.

Qualifications

  • A Chartered Engineer (ideally MCIBSE or equivalent).
  • Deep understanding of building services across both design consultancy and construction.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to steer, support and develop teams.
  • Commercial mindset with the confidence to work with external specialists, consultants, and statutory bodies.
  • Calm, clear, credible communicator trusted at every level.
