This is a full-time, permanent opportunity to lead and shape the English curriculum across the secondary phase. Location: Bexley, London Start Date: September 2025 (or sooner if available) Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: 61,707 - 70,873 (Outer London Leadership) + Performance and Loyalty Bonus + Wellbeing Cash Plan + Pension Scheme (TPS) + Additional Trust Benefits About the Role: As Director of Learning English, you will be responsible for strategic leadership of the English department, driving standards of teaching and learning, and ensuring consistency and excellence across all key stages. This is a pivotal role in a forward-thinking school that prides itself on its inclusive, aspirational ethos. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the English department across the primary and secondary phases Develop and deliver a high-quality, cohesive English curriculum Support and mentor teaching staff, driving continual improvement Monitor progress and implement intervention strategies to raise attainment Contribute to whole-school strategy as part of the extended leadership team What Were Looking For: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Proven success teaching English at KS3, KS4, and ideally KS5 Experience in middle or senior leadership A track record of raising student outcomes Vision, drive, and the ability to inspire both staff and students If youre an outstanding English practitioner ready to shape the future of English education in a dynamic all-through setting, apply now with your up-to-date CV .
