Role Overview Reporting to the Executive Director of Property & Assets, the Director of Resident & Building Safety will lead asset compliance, fire and building safety teams providing strategic and operational oversight to maintain high safety standards. Managing a team of up to 50 colleagues and a £20-30m budget, you will drive innovative strategies and foster a culture of accountability and excellence. Responsibilities
Lead the development and delivery of Anchor’s Compliance and Building Safety Programme, ensuring full compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations (including the Big 6, Fire Reform and Building Safety Acts). Oversee procurement and management of high-value M&E and compliance contracts, maximising economies of scale and value for money. Oversee the delivery of planned maintenance programmes, ensuring they are delivered on time and to budget. Develop and implement strategies, policies and processes that enhance safety, reliability and service standards within budget. Provide expert guidance to the Executive Leadership Team on financial planning and compliance requirements. Build and empower a high-performing team, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation and collaboration. Horizon scan for legislative and regulatory changes, ensuring Anchor remains ahead of the curve. Drive customer‑centric compliance programmes, embedding resident engagement and satisfaction into decision‑making.
What We’re Looking For Experience: Extensive leadership experience in a complex property‑related business with a proven track record in asset compliance, fire and building safety. Demonstrable success managing high‑value contracts and leading teams through change. Knowledge: Deep understanding of social housing and care home environments, including regulatory frameworks (e.g., CQC, Big 6, Fire Reform, Building Safety Acts), procurement and JCT/NEC contracts. Skills: Strategic thinker with the ability to translate legislation into actionable plans. Strong commercial acumen, risk management expertise and a talent for building competent, empowered teams. Qualifications: Degree‑educated (or equivalent experience), ideally with a relevant professional qualification (e.g., CIOB, RICS). Why Join Us?
