Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Sustainability professional to fulfill the role of Director to support the growth of our Sustainability team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with high-profile clients from various sectors, whilst developing and delivering a broad range of sustainability services.
Accountabilities (Deliverables)
- Work with clients to develop, deliver, and assure sustainability strategies across projects and programmes and throughout the asset lifecycle.
- Develop and secure business opportunities with existing and new clients.
- Develop internal stakeholder relationships within infrastructure, real estate, and natural resources sectors, liaising with Key Account Managers and sector leads.
- Embed sustainability into Turner & Townsend's processes and procedures for project and programme delivery.
Responsibilities (Duties)
- Ensure client requirements are identified, scoped effectively, and delivered in line with proposals.
- Collaborate with bid teams to craft technical solutions that meet client needs.
- Optimize fee-earning activities.
- Network and mentor to develop the wider skillset within Turner & Townsend.
- Manage a growing team to deliver services effectively, meet commercial targets, and develop technical capabilities.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of business units as needed.
- Target clients for engagement and develop bids aligned with our sustainability objectives.
- Support Key Account Managers and sector leads to incorporate sustainability into business development.
- Contribute to Turner & Townsend's Corporate Responsibility strategy aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Qualifications and Experience
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject. Professionally qualified member of a recognized institution such as IEMA or a Chartered Environmentalist.
Knowledge / Experience
- Extensive experience in delivering sustainability consultancy support, including energy and carbon (Net Zero), water, waste, circular economy, and biodiversity.
- Experience working in Real Estate and Infrastructure sectors, both in new build and retrofit projects.
- Business development experience with a track record of securing opportunities.
- Deep knowledge of environmental legislation and sustainability issues.
- Experience with environmental management systems like ISO14001:2015.
- Proficiency in environmental assessment methods such as LEED, BREEAM, WELL, and CEEQUAL is advantageous.
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and manage projects across organizations.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with stakeholders on issues like climate and biodiversity emergencies.
- Strong relationship-building skills with clients and ability to proactively resolve issues.
- Ability to lead independently or collaboratively, adapting as needed.
- Attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
