Job Description: What is the opportunity? RBC is seeking a highly technical interest rate derivative specialist to join their Valuations Methodology Team in London. The role involves leading Valuations Change Management and Structured Rates Product responsibilities, focusing on project VAMPP (Valuations & Methodology Python Project) which aims to upgrade valuations infrastructure by replacing Excel workflows with Python, and exploring new technologies like GenAI.
You will work closely with senior team members, Quantitative and Technology Services, and the business to develop high-quality tech solutions supporting growth and innovation. Responsibilities include planning, prioritising deliverables, and managing the deployment of Python code within various environments. As the SRT Product Head, you will oversee IPV and valuation adjustments, and manage a team of three Associate Directors. RBC expects employees to work in-office from mid-September 2025, with some flexibility.
What will you do?
Drive operational excellence by automating workflows with end-to-end solutions.
Lead Project VAMPP, supporting valuation analytics and architecture globally.
Develop prototypes in Python and integrate them into the production stack.
Plan and prioritise project deliverables.
Oversee creation of controlled workflows, including documentation and methodologies.
Conduct code reviews and develop understanding of the code stack.
Coordinate project structure and management using JIRA.
Supervise valuation methodology development by senior team members.
Enhance understanding of pricing models for Rates, Equities, XVAs, and FX.
Manage a team of three experienced Associate Directors.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have Experience in derivative modelling, mainly Rates, with exposure to other areas like Equities, FX, or Commodities.
Proficiency in Python programming.
Experience with project management tools like JIRA.
Code change management experience using GitHub.
Strong focus on delivering working software to production.
Excellent attention to detail and code review skills.
Experience mentoring senior team members.
Masters or PhD in a quantitative field such as Quantitative Finance, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering.
Extensive experience in Valuations, Risk, Trading, or Quants.
Nice-to-have Proficiency in Object-Oriented Python Development.
Experience with quants pricing libraries.
Experience delivering high-profile projects.
