Faversham Emergency Equipment CIC aims to increase the availability of publicly accessible emergency equipment across Faversham. This includes essential life-saving tools such as heart defibrillators (AEDs) and bleed-control kits. Our goal is to ensure that every resident and visitor has rapid access to these tools during critical moments.
Location:Faversham (some duties may be carried out remotely)
Compensation:Unpaid – voluntary role
Note:As a Community Interest Company (CIC), no Director may receive a salary, dividend, or any form of financial benefit from the organisation.
About the Role:
Faversham Emergency Equipment CIC is seeking a committed individual to join its board as aDirector, serving in a trustee-style role. Directors are responsible for providing strategic oversight, ensuring the organisation meets its community-focused objectives, and complying with all legal and financial obligations. This is a governance role, not an operational one, although Directors are encouraged to support key projects and public engagement where possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the strategic direction and governance of the CIC
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance
- Monitor financial health, including approving budgets and funding plans
- Contribute to decision-making that supports our charitable mission
- Promote the CIC’s work across the community and help build partnerships
- Support fundraising and awareness efforts (non-operational)
Qualifications:
- Experience in governance, public service, or community leadership is welcome
- Knowledge of public health, emergency services, or voluntary sector work is an advantage
- Strong communication, judgement, and collaboration skills
- Strategic thinking and an understanding of nonprofit accountability
- A commitment to community service and to upholding the not-for-profit ethos of the CIC
Time Commitment:
Approximately 4–6 hours per month, including quarterly board meetings and occasional additional time for supporting projects or events.
Faversham Emergency Equipment CIC is anot-for-profit organisation.
- All Director roles areunpaid.
- Directorscannot receive salaries, dividends, or any financial benefitfrom the CIC.
- All income and fundraising is used solely to advance the CIC’s community missio
