Director Job ref: DIR10/25 Job type: Permanent Location: NIAO Salary: £89,267 to £102,062 per annum (under review) Quantity of Posts Available: 1 Closing date: Monday 18 Aug 2025 @ 09:00 Job summary ROLE The NIAO wishes to appoint a Director who will contribute to the strategic direction and operational delivery of public auditing in Northern Ireland to ensure the highest standards in financial management, good governance and propriety in the public sector. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team you will continuously improve the performance of NIAO in how we conduct central and local government audits (financial and public reporting), maximize all of our resources, contribute to organisational development and develop the potential of our people. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES As Director you will: Take strategic decisions which impact upon structures, systems and work practices, evolving with the needs of the business; Contribute to the overall corporate planning and organisational development of the NIAO, strategically and operationally; Have a key leadership role in ensuring the operational effectiveness of the NIAO and the quality of work; including delivery of a portfolio of audits (financial and public reporting); Promote beneficial change in the provision of public services including identifying significant impacts and delivering public interest reports; Develop talent and ensure our people feel valued and committed to the work of NIAO and are developed to their full potential; Plan and manage change to ensure continuity and quality taking into account the human impact of introducing new ways of working; Work effectively with key stakeholders in the public sector including senior public servants, audit committees, boards and elected representatives; and Be an ambassador for driving NIAOs vision.
