Our client – a leading operator of a nationally significant energy interconnector – is seeking an exceptional Engineering & Technical Director to join their Senior Leadership Team.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll be responsible for the company’s engineering integrity, asset management strategy, and the continued development of its HVDC cable systems and converter station infrastructure across the UK, the Channel Tunnel, and France.

This is a pivotal leadership role – shaping technical strategy, driving operational excellence, and ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant delivery of a critical energy asset.

The Role

• Lead a multi-disciplinary technical team spanning engineering, projects, and commercial support.
• Own the integrity and performance of HVDC infrastructure, including converter stations and subsea cables.
• Develop and execute the company’s technical strategy in line with business and regulatory goals.
• Oversee asset maintenance, project delivery, and technical risk management.
• Represent the business in key regulatory and industry forums.
• Champion a strong safety and quality culture across all operations.

About You

You’re an accomplished engineering leader with deep expertise in HVDC systems, power transmission, or major energy infrastructure. You combine technical authority with commercial awareness and thrive on leading high-performing teams in complex, safety-critical environments.
