A high-growth, VC-backed SaaS business with £5m ARR is seeking a commercially astute Finance Director (No.1 Finance) to join the leadership team and drive the next phase of scale.
With strong product-market fit and ambitious plans to grow to £20m ARR over the next 3–5 years ahead of a likely trade sale, this represents a rare opportunity to build and lead a best-in-class finance function from an early stage in the journey.
The business operates a remote-first model, with a collaborative and high-performance culture. The successful candidate will be required to travel to Ireland approximately once per month to support operational and board engagement.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with investors, the Finance Director will take full ownership of the finance function and play a central role in shaping commercial and strategic decision-making.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and developing the existing finance team of three
Owning financial strategy, forecasting, and long-range planning aligned to scale objectives
Managing cashflow, working capital, and funding requirements
Partnering with the CEO on pricing, growth strategy, and investment decisions
Building scalable systems, processes, and controls to support rapid growth
Preparing the business for exit, including data room readiness and buyer engagement
Acting as a key liaison with the Board and VC investors
Candidate Profile
Proven experience as a Finance Director or Head of Finance within a SaaS or recurring revenue business
Experience in a VC-backed or high-growth environment
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to partner across product, sales, and operations
Demonstrable experience building financial infrastructure in a scaling business
Clear understanding of SaaS metrics and value drivers
Credible communicator with Board-level presence
Hands-on, pragmatic, and comfortable operating in a lean environment
