Position Overview
We are seeking an exceptional Finance Director to join our finance team. This role demands a technically excellent accountant with proven expertise in financial reporting, audit management, and delivering accurate financial information to drive business decisions. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity and ensuring robust financial controls across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to the owner and senior management, including statutory accounts and comprehensive management reporting
- Budget preparation, forecasting processes, and provide critical financial analysis to support strategic business decisions
- Lead on payroll operations including end-to-end processing, pension administration, PAYE/NI compliance, and management of payroll providers and HMRC relationships
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable including invoice processing workflows, supplier payments, debtor management and credit control, and implementation of robust financial controls
- Ensure full compliance with accounting standards (UK GAAP/IFRS), tax regulations, and oversee VAT, corporation tax, and other regulatory submissions
- Manage international transaction accounting, transfer pricing and tax compliance
- Manage group accounting, intercompany reconciliations and group consolidations
Audit & Technical Accounting
- Manage relationships with external auditors, coordinate all audit activities, and lead internal audit functions with implementation of process improvements
- Apply advanced technical accounting knowledge across complex transactions, ensuring accurate recording and reporting of all financial data
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes with emphasis on accuracy, while implementing and maintaining sophisticated accounting systems and robust internal controls
- Provide technical accounting guidance to finance team and wider business
Professional Qualifications & Experience
- Fully qualified CIMA or ACA with minimum 8 years post-qualified experience
- Experience in manufacturing or production industries is an advantage
- Strong technical accounting background with demonstrable expertise and advanced knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements with extensive experience in complex accounting treatments
- Exceptional attention to detail with zero tolerance for inaccuracy, combined with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present complex financial information clearly
- Proficiency in advanced Excel, experience with accounting software system Sage Intacct, and ability to work under pressure meeting tight deadlines consistently
- Experience managing international transactions, transfer pricing, and multi-jurisdictional tax compliance requirements
