We are looking for a technology leader ready to drive enterprise-wide transformation across hundreds of sites in the UK and Europe. This is a rare opportunity to shape the technology landscape of a fast-scaling, PE-backed organisation undergoing significant digital change.
Our client is a market-leading, multi-site services business operating across 700+ UK and European locations, with a workforce of over 12,000. Following rapid growth through acquisitions, the company is now investing heavily in standardising and modernising its technology estate. As Group Technology Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in enabling this next phase of scalable, secure growth.
About the Role
Reporting to the Group CIO, you’ll lead a UK-based team of ~30 technologists across Infrastructure, Development, Cloud, and Data Engineering. Your core mission will be to unify fragmented systems and services, drive innovation, and ensure the business’s IT backbone can support continued expansion across multiple countries and markets.
This role sits on the IT & Security senior leadership team and will act as a key partner to business and operational leaders across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Technology Strategy: Define and implement a scalable, secure IT strategy that aligns with ambitious UK and European growth plans.
- Systems Integration: Lead the migration from legacy systems to a unified Practice Management System (PMS) across all sites.
- Infrastructure & Cloud Ops: Oversee all aspects of IT operations including networks, cloud (Azure), and service delivery.
- Team Leadership: Build and mentor high-performing technology teams while embedding best practices and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Vendor & Partner Management: Manage third-party service providers and technology partners to ensure efficient and cost-effective service.
- Governance & Risk: Work closely with Security leadership to maintain high standards of cyber security, availability, and compliance.
- CIO Deputy: Act as a senior deputy to the Group CIO, representing the function at Group level when required.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking an experienced technology leader who brings a blend of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and the ability to lead complex transformation in a multi-site, fast-paced, and high-growth environment.
Must-have experience:
- Proven track record leading IT for multi-site organisations – sectors such as healthcare, retail, hospitality, logistics or similar.
- End-to-end leadership of major system migrations and digital transformation programmes.
- Experience managing cross-functional tech teams and external vendors at scale.
- Strong familiarity with cloud environments (preferably Azure) and enterprise systems (ERP, HRIS, PMS or equivalents).
- Commercially astute, comfortable operating in private equity-backed environments.
Nice to have:
- Background in regulated or clinical sectors.
- Experience with Practice Management Systems or consolidating operational platforms post-acquisition.
Location & Working Pattern
The role is UK-based and requires 2-3 days every fortnight at the HQ in York. The rest of the time can be worked remotely or from other UK locations.
