Head of Finance / Finance Director (Title Flexible)

Location: London

4 days in office – 32 hours per week

Reports To: CEO

About the Role

An established luxury brand with operations in both the UK, internationally and in the US, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Head of Finance / Finance Director to oversee all financial and administrative functions across the business.

This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integrity in all financial activities while providing strategic and operational support to the management team. The successful candidate will combine strong technical accounting expertise with commercial insight and hands‑on management skills, contributing across finance, operations, and HR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain daily bookkeeping for both UK and US entities.
  • Ensure all transactions are accurately coded, reconciled, and recorded.
  • Manage intercompany reconciliations and journal entries.

2. Taxation & Statutory Compliance

  • Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns to HMRC.
  • Ensure full compliance with UK tax and financial regulations.
  • Liaise with US accountants for statutory filings and compliance.
  • Prepare annual accounts, corporation tax returns, and confirmation statements.
  • Process monthly payroll, prepare BACS payment files, and manage HMRC submissions.
  • Oversee pension contributions and submissions.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, contracts, and documentation.
  • Provide administrative HR support for onboarding, leavers, and compliance tracking.
  • Produce monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow).
  • Lead on budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis.
  • Provide clear financial insights to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on stock valuation, margin performance, and forecasting.

5. Cashflow Management & Administration

  • Prepare weekly payment runs and monitor cashflow and working capital.
  • Support cost control, contract management, and vendor negotiations.
  • Maintain accurate records of agreements, leases, and supplier terms.

6. Coordination & Compliance

  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and advisors to ensure smooth audits and group reporting.
  • Oversee data and documentation for both UK and US entities, ensuring timely submissions.

Key Requirements

  • Fully qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior finance or accounting role, ideally within premium or luxury retail, fashion, or consumer goods.
  • Proven experience in management accounting, forecasting, and stock analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, VAT, payroll, and pensions.
  • Skilled in Xero, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software, with advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Confident liaising with CEO, auditors, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
