Make an Impact at RSM UK Our National Innovation & Capital Tax Reliefs Team works with a range of companies, from start-ups to multinationals, to assist them in the preparation of claims for Research & Development tax relief. As an Innovation Reliefs Associate Director in our Edinburgh or Glasgow office, you will work with companies across all sectors, most notably manufacturing, engineering, life sciences, software and digital technologies to assist them to identify and prepare successful tax relief claims. The variety of projects and impressive client list will challenge you every day, helping you expand your capabilities and grow professionally. You’ll make an impact by:
Developing claim methodologies and managing the preparation of R&D tax relief claims for submission to HMRC. Leading meetings with clients to advise on R&D tax relief and assisting with identification of qualifying R&D activities and expenditure. Analysing and compiling high quality qualifying R&D expenditure calculations. Demonstrating your expertise in writing technical descriptions of the client’s projects to include in the reports. Identifying, leading on, and progressing business development opportunities, pitching for work with both new and existing clients. Managing and developing junior members of the team. Ensuring that the R&D engagement team are fully updated on progress and any issues that might affect the client relationship. Working collaboratively with other members of the IR team in the region and nationally.
What we are looking for:
Proven track record and in depth knowledge of Innovation Reliefs. Experience in preparing and submitting R&D tax relief claims across sectors, and knowledge of different claim methodologies, especially any industry specific challenges, over a broad range of industries. Strong level of tax technical knowledge of the UK’s R&D tax incentives. Experience in drafting project technical descriptions with a clear and concise writing style and with reference to the DSIT guidelines on R&D for tax purposes. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Experience in responding to HMRC enquiries.
