Our client is a large, multi-site business with revenues of c.£500 million, backed by a leading private equity firm. Following a period of rapid growth and operational expansion, the business is now entering a crucial phase focused on commercial optimisation, performance improvement, and value creation.

They are seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director to provide hands‑on leadership, drive financial performance, and act as a trusted liaison between the business and its private equity investors.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the PE house, this role combines strategic oversight, investor management, and commercial finance leadership. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that financial insight and governance directly enable the company’s growth and investment goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the finance function across multiple sites and business units
  • Serve as the primary finance contact for private equity investors, providing clear, data‑driven insight, board packs, and performance updates
  • Deliver robust financial planning, forecasting, and analysis to support strategic decision‑making
  • Drive commercial initiatives – improving site‑level profitability, pricing strategy, and operational efficiency
  • Oversee cash flow management, working capital, and capital allocation
  • Strengthen financial controls, systems, and reporting processes to ensure accuracy and transparency
  • Partner with the CEO and wider leadership team on growth strategy, M&A opportunities, and exit readiness

About You

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with extensive post‑qualification experience
  • Proven background as a Finance Director or senior financial leader in a PE‑backed business
  • Direct experience managing PE stakeholder communication and reporting is essential
  • Strong commercial and operational finance capability within a multi‑site or complex organisation (retail, leisure, healthcare, B2B, or similar)
  • Highly analytical, hands‑on, and comfortable in a fast‑paced, performance‑driven culture
  • Excellent communicator – confident engaging with investors, boards, and executive teams
  • Available immediately or within short notice
