Overview

Interim Property Acquisition Programme Director for a council, leading the delivery of a large-scale housing acquisition programme. Focus on securing homes at pace, developing sustainable procurement strategies, and expanding housing supply.

Responsibilities

• Lead on the delivery of a property acquisition strategy to secure homes at scale in a highly competitive market.
• Develop and manage acquisition opportunities, ensuring compliance with housing standards and long-term sustainability.
• Negotiate with landlords, agents, and developers to secure the best outcomes for the authority.
• Provide clear financial viability assessments, business cases, and reports to support decision-making.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the council to align acquisitions with wider housing and community priorities.

Requirements

• Proven experience in large-scale property acquisition, within local government, public or private sector.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to evaluate complex transactions.
• Knowledge of housing compliance, property standards, and procurement processes.
• Well-connected within the North West local market, with strong relationships across established networks.
• The ability to work at pace and deliver high-quality outcomes in a challenging marketplace.

This is an interim assignment for 6 months.
