Investment Director – Software & Technology

Drax Altus is supporting a confidential search for a mid‑market private equity firm seeking to appoint an Investment Director to focus on software and technology‑enabled investments. The firm is known for its long‑term, hands‑on approach, partnering with management teams to scale founder‑led businesses through both organic growth and M&A.

With a strong track record of investing in high‑margin, recurring revenue models, the firm is now looking to strengthen its technology capability and bring on a senior investment professional to help drive the origination, execution, and value creation agenda across its technology portfolio.

This is a leadership‑track opportunity for a commercially minded investor to join a focused, collaborative, and growing platform.

Responsibilities

The role includes but is not limited to:

Origination & Execution

  • Source and lead investments in software and technology‑enabled services, including founder succession, carve‑outs, and platform strategies.
  • Lead execution from end to end: financial modelling, due diligence, valuation, structuring, negotiation, and completion.
  • Develop conviction around market niches with structural growth and strong recurring revenue characteristics.
  • Take active board roles, working closely with CEOs and CFOs to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Drive value through operational improvement, commercial acceleration, and bolt‑on acquisition strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal resources and external advisers to deliver transformation initiatives.

Platform Contribution

  • Provide mentorship and development to junior team members.
  • Contribute to internal investment committee processes and portfolio reviews.
  • Support fundraising activity by providing insights into sector themes and track record.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience: 8–12 years in private equity, growth capital, or corporate development with a strong focus on software or technology businesses.
  • Track Record: Evidence of leading transactions and driving value in technology‑driven or recurring revenue models.
  • Sector Insight: Deep interest in tech verticals such as B2B software, data, or automation.
  • Execution Skills: Strong financial and commercial judgement, with full lifecycle deal experience.
  • Leadership: A collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to engage with founders and management teams.
