The Role

Managing Director

As our next Managing Director, you’ll take the reins of day-to-day operations, working closely alongside our visionary Founder to guide the business into its next phase of growth. You’ll bring strategic direction, commercial discipline, and people-first leadership — supported by a talented senior team and an active, engaged Board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Shape and deliver realistic, insight-led strategic plans; Balance ambition with execution — setting clear, focused priorities
  • Operational Delivery: Bring structure and accountability without sacrificing creativity or pace; Strengthen processes and governance to enable sustainable progress
  • Financial Leadership: Own budgeting, forecasting, and overall financial performance; Help the wider team make financially informed decisions; Foster a high-performing, purpose-led culture; Lead with empathy, integrity, and high standards; Be a visible, values-driven leader across the business; Embed insight-led thinking at every level; Use data to drive better, faster decisions — without losing our entrepreneurial spirit
  • External Engagement: Deepen sector knowledge and market understanding; Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

You’re commercially astute and emotionally intelligent — a leader who thrives on meaningful work and brings a clear sense of purpose.

  • Proven leadership experience as MD / CEO / COO in a scaling or founder-led business
  • Full financial accountability, ideally in companies with £15m+ turnover
  • Strong understanding of people, culture, and values-driven leadership
  • Confident communicator with Board-level presence
  • A track record of building, leading, and retaining high-performing teams
  • A strategic mindset with a hands-on approach
  • (Bonus) Experience in purpose-led, creative, media, digital or tech sectors
