Aspire Software, an operating Group of Valsoft, is seeking a Managing Director to lead one of our software businesses and potentially an entire software vertical!
As MD, you will own the P&L, set the strategic direction, and deliver sustained growth and profitability across the business. Success is measured by outcomes, raising operational excellence, scaling customer success, and building high-performing leadership teams that multiply impact.
We operate with a decentralised model that gives our MDs true ownership while providing the resources and global backing of Valsoft. Our focus is simple: build businesses that consistently outperform year after year, with a core of cash discipline, innovation, and people-first leadership.
This position provides critical operational leadership to a company and potentially a portfolio of companies within a growing software vertical. As a leader and manager of a Business Unit, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the business strategic plan, which spans sales and marketing, R&D, customer service, professional services, and human resources.
Along with the rest of the Business Unit leadership team, the MD must identify, define, and execute the strategies necessary to achieve the growth plans and operating objectives, with a focus on enhancing operational excellence. You will be fully accountable for the results of this business.
Responsibilities:
- Achieves sustainable growth by positioning businesses strategically within their markets and aligning operations with long-term objectives
- Delivers measurable improvements in scalability, efficiency, and operational excellence across portfolio companies
- Demonstrates consistent revenue growth through effective market expansion, cross-selling, and customer-focused strategies
- Ensures customer satisfaction and loyalty remain strong, driving high retention and advocacy
- Guides portfolio companies to maintain clear, market-aligned product strategies and roadmaps that balance innovation with stability, resulting in both new customer acquisition and retention
- Fosters an environment of innovation and technology adoption, challenging the status quo and leveraging emerging tools (including AI) to improve products, services, and business performance
- Owns full P&L responsibility for portfolio companies, ensuring revenue growth, profitability, and financial resilience
Requirements:
- Proven ability to own a P&L and deliver sustained growth, profitability, and operational scalability
- A track record of driving strategic market expansion, launching new products, or transforming businesses for long-term success
- Strong financial acumen - you know your numbers and use them to make smart, value-creating decisions
- Experience building and leading executive-level teams, raising talent density and succession readiness
- Comfort with emerging technologies (including AI) to fuel innovation and productivity across products and operations
This position can be based anywhere in the UK, working in a remote work model!
