Role: Medical Director

Contract: Permanent

Salary: FTE £84,121 to £95,400 dependant on qualifications and experience

Location: Cumbria

We’re now seeking a Medical Director to lead our team of doctors, shaping outstanding patient care and playing a central, strategic role in our award-winning hospice. With the resources, time, and support to do things properly, this is a role where you can genuinely make a lasting difference.

Essential

Education, qualifications and knowledge base

• GMC Registration with a Current License to Practice.
• Inclusion on the GMC for General Practice, Geriatric Medicine, Respiratory Medicine or suitable alternative, or be in a substantive experienced specialist grade role.
• A recognised medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent).
• Evidence of continuous professional development
• Understanding and experience of clinical governance

Experience, Skills, qualities and abilities

• Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in a substantive specialist grade role.
• Ability to take an organisational perspective and transcend medical professional boundaries to drive service development and change
• Proven experience of managing & leading staff
• Proven experience of leading organisational change
• Strong persuasive, influencing, negotiating and interpersonal skills
• Experience of working at Board level
• Ability to inspire the medical team and lead their development both individually and as a group
• Able to communicate clearly and confidently on complex subjects and ideas to diverse professional and public audiences.

Other 

• Possession of full UK driving licence and access to own car for business use, or alternative reliable transport which ensures the needs of the role are met
• Able to support an on-call rota
