Base pay range Direct message the job poster from MŌDUM Job Title Merchandising Director Location UK Head Office Contract Type Permanent, Full-Time Reports To CEO Direct Reports 2 FTE (Head of Merchandising + Merchandising Assistant) Overview Our client, a globally recognised luxury fine jewellery brand, is seeking an experienced Merchandising Director to lead the brand’s global merchandising strategy — blending creative vision with commercial precision to deliver a balanced, high-performing product assortment. This is a pivotal leadership position within a fast-growing, design-led luxury business, requiring a unique combination of analytical acumen, product sensibility, and strategic foresight. The successful candidate will ensure the right product is offered in the right place, at the right time, while championing the brand’s creative and commercial ambitions. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement the global merchandising strategy in alignment with creative direction and commercial objectives. Partner closely with Retail, Product, Finance, Creative, and Executive leadership to harmonise product development, buying, and sales initiatives. Analyse sales performance and client insights to guide future assortment planning and inform product innovation. Support growth through data-driven product planning and inventory optimisation across all channels.
Assortment & Product Management
Define and manage seasonal assortment plans, balancing core, new, high jewellery, and bespoke collections. Collaborate with design and production teams to brief and refine new product development based on commercial data and client trends. Oversee product lifecycle management from launch to end-of-life, ensuring strong sell-through and reduced obsolescence. Maintain a coherent pricing architecture that safeguards competitiveness, consistency, and profitability.
Inventory & Allocation
Partner with Operations to monitor stock levels and ensure balanced distribution across boutiques, e-commerce, and wholesale partners. Oversee replenishment cycles, inter-store transfers, and allocation adjustments according to sales performance. Develop and enhance inventory management tools and reporting systems to support visibility and strategic decision-making. Produce and communicate performance reports (weekly, monthly, seasonal) with actionable insights. Identify sales and growth opportunities through performance analysis across categories, price bands, and markets. Collaborate with Finance to ensure margin integrity through effective pricing, cost management, and forecasting. Partner with Retail and Marketing to align product priorities and client events with sales objectives.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Lead and inspire a small merchandising team, cultivating excellence, collaboration, and accountability. Work cross-functionally with Design, Retail, E-commerce, and Marketing to deliver cohesive storytelling and a seamless client journey. Act as a bridge between creative and commercial functions, ensuring alignment between artistry, strategy, and profitability.
Profile & Requirements Experience & Background
15+ years of merchandising experience within luxury, ideally fine or high jewellery. Proven track record in assortment planning, stock control, and commercial analysis. Deep understanding of high jewellery, bespoke, and core collection dynamics. Strong analytical and strategic capabilities, translating data into actionable outcomes.
Skills & Attributes
Deep passion for luxury jewellery and the client experience. Exceptional communication and influencing skills across creative and commercial teams. Entrepreneurial, hands-on approach suited to a dynamic, boutique environment. Collaborative, agile, and solutions-oriented with excellent organisational skills. Proficiency in Excel and ERP/Merchandising systems (e.g. Alpha, BC, or equivalent).
