The business operates in over 10 global markets with a strong focus on customer care across every function.The RoleOperations Director - South West Midlands - Manufacturing - Metals - Transformation.The RoleLead all manufacturing operations across the business.Build and develop operations organization and drive integration of the functions to deliver performance objectives.Drive continuous improvement of processes and procedures to support the strategic direction of the business.Assume full accountability for business performance and implement functional initiatives/strategies for improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery and employee relations.As a leader, drive the tone and culture for the business with a clear passion to win at all levels and a collective ambition to become a world-class operation.A clear successor role to the GM, positioned as second in command to the GM, assuming full responsibility and accountability in their absence.ResponsibilitiesEnsure the safe working operation of all employees and processes.Manage the day-to-day operation of the plant to meet safety, quality, delivery performance, inventory, productivity, production, shipment and cost budget targets.Implement a continuous improvement process that drives safety, product yield, cost of non-conformance, labour productivity, cycle time reduction and cost reduction.Ensure Metal Inventory is managed by effective resource, scheduling, close monitoring and good revert management.Assess engineering maintenance needs and coordinate with the Engineering Director to maintain safe, continued operation of the plant.Plan and evaluate future capital needs and requisitions through market and technical analysis for justification.Ensure employees are well motivated and rewarded through effective training, competitive wages/salary evaluations, and incentives.Ensure robust financial management and adherence to quality accounting controls, with SOX compliance where applicable.Ensure manufacturing capability is cost-effective and supports the needs of the business markets.Identify resources required to meet present and foreseeable production demands from production plans.Drive a quality-first, zero-defects mentality and culture.Establish and implement changes to constantly improve OTIF (On-Time-In-Full) performance.QualificationsBSc (Hons) or higher in a relevant subject (e.g., Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, etc.).Proven experience in a management role within a large and complex manufacturing environment.Prior experience directly managing a significant number of people is required.DetailsSeniority level: DirectorEmployment type: Full-timeJob function: Production, Supply Chain, and Strategy/PlanningIndustries: Primary Metal Manufacturing and ManufacturingWe’re unlocking community knowledge in a new way.
