Cognitive Group | Part of the Focus Cloud Group is seeking a Portfolio Director to lead a Portfolio of high-value engagements across central and local government in the UK Public Sector. This role focuses on making an impact by ensuring projects land successfully, building trusted client relationships, and guiding delivery teams to achieve outstanding outcomes. You will help shape strategy, support pre-sales activity, and identify new opportunities to drive growth within your accounts.

What you’ll be doing

  • Taking ownership of client portfolios, ensuring programmes are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
  • Driving business growth by developing opportunities, leading bids, and supporting sales efforts.
  • Nurturing long-term relationships with key stakeholders across the Public Sector.
  • Leading, coaching and mentoring managers and consultants to keep teams motivated, engaged, and delivering their best.
  • Working closely with capability leads across digital, data and cloud to align resources and ensure seamless delivery.
  • Championing values of collaboration, quality, and customer success as part of the senior leadership team.

What we’re looking for

  • Significant experience leading large portfolios of technology projects (8-figure budgets) within the UK Public Sector.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a proven ability to hit revenue and profit targets.
  • A track record of delivering complex change programmes in consulting or systems integration environments.
  • An inspiring leader who can unite diverse teams, mediate through challenges, and bring people with you.
  • Collaborative, driven, and confident building networks across organisations and clients.
  • Security clearance eligibility (willingness to undergo SC and up to DV clearance).
  • Ideally based near London, Birmingham, or Newcastle, with flexibility to travel up to 60% of the time.
