The joining of Wardell Armstrong and SLR means we have a fantastic team of qualified and highly experienced Soil Scientists with comprehensive knowledge of soil, peat and environmental science, hydrology, ecology and agriculture.
We have a proven successful mix of practical industry experience, environmental impact assessment capability, project management skills, and regulatory knowledge. This includes providing valuable baseline information to better assess options for site management. Our focus on waste soil assessment & characterisation, and geochemistry integration into rehabilitation plans, creates a successful holistic view on the approach to land and soil management for clients.
Overview Of Team / Business Area. The small soils team currently based in Cardiff, Sheffield and Glasgow have a wide range of projects across all our business sectors including energy infrastructure, quarrying, forestry, residential and commercial developments and sports.
The role. We are looking to recruit an experienced Soil Scientist with industry experience to lead the well-established and expanding Agriculture, Soils and Peat team and development of soils, peat and agricultural work / clients firmwide.
The position can be based from any of our UK offices, ideally Glasgow, Sheffield, Leeds, Cardiff or Nottingham, and we can also consider remote workers who are prepared to travel across the UK.
In This Exciting Role, You Will Manage
- soil and peat surveys including ALC/LCCA and related fieldwork
- produce written reports for clients
- manage data to support technical reporting, planning applications and EIA
- liaise with clients, landowners, contractors, statutory authorities and third parties
- mentor and develop team members
- maintain and expand the business
About You. The successful candidate will have:
- a postgraduate qualification in Soil Science, or a related degree with relevant practical experience
- experience of soil and peat survey
- excellent report writing skills
- knowledge of Agricultural Land Classification (ALC or LCCA)
- ideally be professionally chartered
- previous experience of managing a team and business development
