Project Director - Water Industry
New Yesterday
Overview
Are you ready to lead the future of water infrastructure?
Stantec is a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, and we're looking for a visionary Project Director to join our award-winning Water Sector team. This is more than a job; it's a chance to shape the industry and build a legacy.
We have been recognised as the "International Consulting Firm of the Year" and "Best Place to Work" at the 2024 New Civil Engineer Awards. Our success is built on delivering complex, high-impact projects that make a real difference. Stantec’s AMP8 campaign has secured significant opportunities with most UK and Ireland Water Companies. From feasibility studies and planning to design for construction, construction management, operations and maintenance, we bring together the talent, expertise and innovation necessary to deliver successful project outcomes. We now need your skill and leadership to help drive our next phase of growth.
The role can sit across any of our offices within the region, including Cardiff, Bristol, Exeter, Birmingham, Redditch or Derby, with the opportunity to work on significant Strategic Resource Option (SRO) Projects and exciting water programmes such as Welsh Water’s and South West Water’s Engineering Consultancy Frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for delivery of SRO projects and large frameworks, guiding Project Managers and teams to deliver large-scale projects and programmes, with a focus on design & construction (D&C) collaboration with contractors.
- Operate as a key part of the sector leadership structure, reporting to the Regional Director and maintaining a matrix reporting line to the Major Projects Discipline and Market Area Director.
- Lead with a strategic and hands-on approach to project leadership, shaping project outcomes and managing business risk in a multi-disciplinary environment (preferably in the water sector).
- Support growth in the Major Projects portfolio by strengthening D&C capability and capacity.
- Collaborate with the Major Projects Discipline & Market Area Director and Regional Leadership teams to implement commercial and risk management strategies across projects and programmes.
- Champion best practices, develop new services, and contribute to building a world-class project delivery offering.
Qualifications
- Proven track record delivering Major Projects within a multidisciplinary environment (preferably in the water sector).
- Strong understanding of design for construction and the commercial acumen to ensure successful financial outcomes.
- Ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively as the primary client contact.
- Demonstrated HSSE management and wellbeing commitment and behaviours.
- Chartership status with a relevant institution is preferred.
If you're passionate about leading, mentoring, and making a tangible impact, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
