Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the end-to-end delivery of a major hyperscale data centre development in Asia. This is a flagship project requiring exceptional leadership, technical expertise, and stakeholder management skills to ensure on-time, within-budget, and high-quality delivery.
As Project Director, you will act as the senior point of accountability, overseeing all project phases from design development, procurement, and construction through to commissioning and handover. You will liaise closely with internal leadership, the client, consultants, contractors, and local authorities to drive excellence in execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Provide overall direction and management of the project, ensuring alignment with business goals and client expectations.
- Programme Management: Oversee planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery of all project milestones.
- Design & Technical Oversight: Coordinate with design consultants and technical specialists to ensure compliance with international standards and local codes.
- Commercial Management: Manage budgets, cost reporting, and contract administration, ensuring financial performance and risk mitigation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for the client, investors, contractors, government bodies, and local communities.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all permits, licenses, and statutory approvals are secured and adhered to.
- Health, Safety & Sustainability: Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and sustainability across the project lifecycle.
- Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary project team, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Commissioning & Handover: Oversee testing, commissioning, and successful operational readiness of the data centre.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field.
- 15+ years’ experience in project delivery, with at least 5 years at Project Director level.
- Proven track record delivering large-scale data centres, mission-critical facilities, or complex industrial/technology projects.
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems, commissioning processes, and critical infrastructure requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen.
- Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
- Culturally adaptable with experience managing multinational teams.
