Project Director – Exhibitions

Salary: £70–80k, based on experience

Our client is a best-in-class, leading experience agency delivering world-class exhibitions, live events, brand experiences, sponsorship activations, and world expos across global markets.

They are now seeking a Project Director to lead their Exhibition Build Project Management team. This is a pivotal leadership role, overseeing the delivery of complex, large-scale international projects — with budgets up to £3 million — across exhibitions (80%) and live events (20%).


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the Project Management team, ensuring efficient, profitable, and high-quality delivery
  • Oversee budgets, timelines, logistics, and cross-functional stakeholder communication (creative, technical, digital, logistics)
  • Drive departmental growth and act as the escalation point for high-level client and project issues
  • Implement best practices in documentation, budgeting, scheduling, and procurement
  • Manage contractor relationships and procurement processes to ensure quality and cost control
  • Represent the agency in client meetings, pitches, and strategic discussions


What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years in a senior project management role within exhibitions or experiential marketing
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage large, international project teams
  • Solid background in exhibition build, with a track record of delivering high-value global projects
  • Experience working in international markets, ideally including the USA and the Middle East
  • Strong skills in logistics, supplier management, and compliance with venue/regional regulations
  • Exceptional organisational, communication, and financial management capabilities
  • Calm under pressure, able to manage multiple projects while maintaining high attention to detail


Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of global logistics and freight
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (intermediate or higher)
  • Familiarity with event formats including conferences, summits, and roadshows
  • Skilled in reporting, forecasting, and real-time scheduling
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented, and client-focused
