The Sales Director will create and execute the sales growth strategy for all existing national customers, driving expansion, share of wallet improving customer retention and delivering profitable growth.

  • Accountable for successful delivery of the Growth Strategy and achievement of sales and margin targets.
  • Managing multi-tier teams you will implement change, structure and process best suited to a national and regional account base business.
  • To effectively lead the Sector team in retaining & growing the existing customer base, and winning, and successfully onboarding, new customers.
  • To lead, engage, and inspire, sales teams of multiple people, with direct reports within a High-Performance, continuous improvement culture.
  • To provide effective leadership development and coaching, providing an environment that allows individuals and the team to flourish

Profile

A successful Sales Director should have:

  • Proven track record of strategic account development & implementation, delivering against sales targets with a proven track record of successful P&L delivery within a sales environment.
  • Ideally from an industrial tools and consumables background, PPE, Packaging, fasteners, stationary, storage, tools, hygiene or similar.
  • Delivered change and transformation within a multi-tiered managed team.
  • Background in selling multiple product offerings across industrial sectors with value service solution.
  • Track record of leading large sales functions and delivering year on year growth.
  • Sharp intellect, very driven and results focused, numerate and able to put a compelling proposition together and sell it.
  • Resilient and adaptable with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and results-focused business.
  • An understanding of a customer base including but not limited to manufacturing, Aerospace, construction, transport, defence and utilities.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to develop and motivate a high-performing team.
  • Experience of developing and executing a new business acquisition sales strategy

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record in business development, account management, and channel sales.
  • Experienced in managing distributor, OEM, and systems integrator relationships.
  • Strong background in technical sales across multiple sectors: construction, defence, aerospace, and industrial.
  • Skilled in negotiating contracts, pricing, and supplier agreements to maximise margin and customer value.
  • Expertise in solution selling: matching technical products and services to client requirements.
  • Familiar with CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.) and pipeline management.
  • Commercially astute with ability to analyse market trends and competitor activity.
  • Adept at product launches, channel strategy, and market expansion (UK and international).
  • Experience of tendering and bid management for large framework agreements.
  • Background as a design engineer provides strong technical credibility with customers.
  • Effective at building long-term client relationships and growing revenue streams.
  • Results-driven: history of exceeding sales targets and reducing time-to-close
