What is the opportunity?To be part of a progressive, forward thinking, global Internal Audit team with the mandate to assess and challenge risk management practices, internal control and corporate governance processes across Wealth Management Europe and RBC BlueBay Asset Management.You will support the European Chief Audit Executive and the Director, European Wealth and Asset Management and provide independent, objective evaluations of the effectiveness of risk management practices, internal control and corporate governance processes across RBC Businesses and support functions. These evaluations span planned internal audits, ad-hoc investigations, continuous monitoring and audit issue resolution. This will require building strong relationships with management to ensure they achieve RBC’s objectives by creating solutions to improve business operations, while complying with policies and procedures, financial and regulatory requirements, and remaining within the risk appetite of the organisation.From this unique position you will gain a thorough understanding of a global financial services organisation, be challenged to implement creative audit techniques and expected to utilise data analytics to provide business insights.The position being offered is a Senior Audit Manager within the RBC Internal Audit UK team covering Asset and Wealth Management activities. This is equivalent to a VP or Associate Director level.What will you do?Leadership and TeamworkLead a team of professional auditors and be responsible for all aspects of an audit.
Cooperate with other audit groups to effectively plan and execute audits.
Lead by example in promoting team work across IAS.
Coach junior team members.
Actively contribute to team discussions, openly sharing experiences and ideas to improve audit practices and coverage.
When acting as an audit lead, oversee and manage internal audits from start to finish. This includes ensuring the audit coverage is adequate for the issuance of an overall opinion on internal controls and risk management practices to senior management; execute audit work, drafting and agreeing audit issues; assessing management action plans; and reviewing working papers. Use appropriate data analytics to identify and ensure adequate coverage of key risks.
When acting as a team member, assess the control design of the assigned audit areas and propose a testing strategy, perform the agreed audit testing, maintain appropriate working papers and draft audit issues in consultation with the team lead.
Participate in complex and special audit projects as requested by senior management of the Bank.
Work with the IA and the business to develop and implement continuous assurance processes.
Maintain effective working relationship with key stakeholders ensuring they get maximum value from our engagement work.
Effect change by assisting business management to develop appropriate action plans to address identified deficiencies, and ensure these are implemented in a timely manner.
Keep abreast of organisational, regulatory, product, strategic and financial changes and/or trends impacting assigned the business.
Work in teams to assess the RBC control environment and drive real change in the organisation through insightful audit outcomes.
Develop and maintain an understanding of the RBC Asset and Wealth Management businesses including newly acquired entities
Lead all stages of audit work including review of associated documentation, such as:
Understand the business objectives and the environment in which they operate.
Assess the business processes, create and execute a testing strategy to assess the key controls.
Assess the risk and impact of issues identified and communicate the results to Internal Audit and stakeholder senior management.
Assist in audit report preparation and presentation
Ensure that commitments on improvements made by the business are adhered to.
Establish stakeholder relationships and develop continuous risk and assurance approaches to effectively assess the various businesses throughout the audit cycle.
Contribute to team discussions, openly sharing experiences and ideas to improve audit practices and coverage.
Ongoing engagement with colleagues globally to share best practices and facilitate alignment in coverage.
Constantly learn and develop your financial services knowledge and leadership skills.
Extensive work experience in auditing controls either within internal audit or related control/testing functions preferably covering asset and/or wealth management related activities.
Project management experience including oversight and leadership of junior staff members.
Must have the ability to quickly understand the evolving business risks and formulate a strategy to assess them using both traditional audit techniques and data analysis.
Ability to work under minimal supervision on tasks and audit projects.
Highly organised and strong attention to detail.
Outstanding verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
An ability to both work independently and collaboratively within the team with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
Comfortable working on multiple projects with varying and changing demands.
Education - degree or similar/equivalent and/or professional qualification in a financial designation such as CA, CPA, CIA, CRMA, GARP, CFA, CAMS, CFE.
Financial Services experience, with strong background in audit in areas such as investment management, custody, treasury services and wealth management.
