Job Title: Site Director (Dynamic Components & Accessories) (Almondbank)

Location: Almondbank, Perth

Purpose and Scope:

The Site Director has overall responsibility for the all aspects of the local facility including health, safety & environment, security, finance & HR in addition to the delivery of the operations and customer contracted output. Is responsible for the quality/airworthiness of the product, meeting the required delivery performance of customers within agreed budgets.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Provides informal leadership within the business unit, demonstrating integrated thinking when solving problems and implementing continuous improvement practices;
  • Adapts to change, demonstrating proactive thinking, assertiveness and initiative to identify potential issues/problems before they arise;
  • Fosters and promotes a culture of continuous improvement and business excellence.
  • Builds relationships with both external and internal clients.
  • Operational Responsibilities:

  • P&L responsibility for the business unit.
  • Leadership of the BU team
  • Ensures compliance with requirements of the Regulated Articles (RAs) and associated Military Aviation Authority (MAA) regulations;
  • Maintains Health, Safety and Environmental standards to legal and internal requirements;
  • Supports development and execution of the Rotary Business Unit (BU) strategy for growth, aligned with Vector Aerospace (VAIL) overall long term planning;
  • Drives business excellence and continuous improvement across all areas of the Operation;
  • Applies basic project management principles, identifying available resources, defining scope, developing timelines and budgets, analysing cost-benefit and evaluating risk. Designs strategies to mitigate risk and influences buy-in from all stakeholders while applying the seven steps of continuous improvement;
  • Identifies risks and opportunities and removes any unnecessary expenditure; 
  • Budget setting and management of profit and loss (P&L) accounts;
  • As a member of the helicopter extended leadership team, supports broader business initiatives and synergies to deliver the Annual Operating Plan (AOP);
  • Ensures compliance to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR);
  • Represents VAIL at external customer meetings and airworthiness committees; 
  • Ensures effective Operations metrics are in place, maintained, cascaded and communicated in execution of the AOP;
  • Responsible for observing and reporting any issues or concerns in support of the company-wide quality, environmental and Safety Management System (SMS) policies;
  • Management of supply chain and logistical functions;
  • Site security.
  • Required Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge of component MRO in respective business unit/site and technical skills appropriate to role;
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior leadership role, within an aerospace, defence or related environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate at a senior level;
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering complex projects;
  • Demonstrated experience of setting budgets and managing profit and loss (P&L) accounts over $30M per annum;
  • Ability to effectively interface at all levels within the business and with a wide range of Customers and stakeholders;
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing business environment;
  • Communicates effectively with customers (both internal and external), demonstrating effective use of written, verbal, non-verbal, and active listening skills, employing relevant knowledge, skills, and judgment to achieve organisational goals. Adapts language appropriate to the audience;
  • Strong planning, organisational, analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills while demonstrating situational awareness;
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; 
  • A proven commitment to professional practice, continuous professional improvement, and life-long learning;
  • Working knowledge of PC’s and operating systems environment including the use of Microsoft Office productivity software with the ability to adapt to changes in technology (both hardware and software).
  • Professional Qualifications/Education and Training: (e = essential / d = desirable)

  • Able to achieve Security Clearance (SC); (e)
  • A recognised qualification in business or management; (d)
  • Membership of a recognised external body, RAeS; (d)
  • External Professional accreditation via UK Engineering Council, I Eng; (d)
  • Military Part 145 training. (d)
