Role summary

As a Strategy Director at Creative Equals, you will lead high-impact partnerships with our global clients. Working at the intersection of brand, inclusion, and transformation, you will help clients navigate complex challenges by uncovering insight, diagnosing problems, and designing strategies that drive measurable change.

You will play a pivotal role in defining and delivering Creative Equals’ strategic offering, guiding teams to produce world-class work, deepening our impact, and leading the development of tools and products that meet emerging client needs. As a senior leader, you will advocate for best-in-class strategic consultancy, ensuring Creative Equals continues to deliver value, influence, and innovation in the inclusive marketing space.

You will be responsible for setting direction, upholding delivery standards, growing key relationships, and developing the strategy team. This is a client-facing, team-building, and business-shaping role that combines strategic rigour with creative and commercial thinking.

Working pattern and reporting

Location: Hybrid (minimum one day a week in our London office)

Working pattern: Full-time, flexible working options available

Core responsibilities

Client strategy and delivery

· Act as a constructive partner and advisor to the client, bringing clarity to complex conversations, particularly during onboarding to define challenges

· Lead scoping with clients, setting project parameters and securing stakeholder buy-in

· Deliver longer-term strategic plans that help clients exceed their DEI, brand and business goals

· Ensure strategic narratives are translated into clear, actionable recommendations that teams can implement

· Guide and support teams in shaping methodology, research approaches and output recommendations

· Lead and/or delegate key meetings with confidence, aligning clients and internal teams on direction and outcome.

· Continuously innovate and evolve our strategic offer to ensure it's future-facing, relevant and high-impact

Project leadership and oversight

· Provide top-level oversight across multiple, often complex, workstreams

· Make day-to-day decisions around prioritisation and resource allocation

· Monitor all project work to ensure it remains on brief, within scope and meets client expectations

· Maintain accountability for the quality, timeliness and relevance of all deliverables within your portfolio

· Review and quality-assure all strategic outputs, ensuring clarity, rigour and alignment to client goal

Team guidance and development

· Support teams in turning insight and research into cohesive, impactful strategies, offering clear direction and strategic guardrails

· Educate internal teams on client context, markets and evolving needs

· Reinforce logical, compliant documentation and strong internal governance across all project outputs

· Ensure appropriate and consistent use of company tools, processes and delivery standards, also consideration of implementing AI In

Business growth and development

· Identify opportunities within your client portfolio for targeted business development to upsell projects

· Spot patterns in client needs and proactively develop tools, services or strategic products that meet them

· Contribute to shaping new offers we can take to market, from thought leadership to proprietary tools

· Ensure the client is aware of the full breadth of Creative Equals’ services and solutions

Relationship management and escalation

· Act as a senior point of contact and escalation, managing client concerns and maintaining trust and confidence

· Foster long-term, values-aligned relationships with client partners, ensuring Creative Equals is positioned as a trusted advisor

Experience and qualifications Required

- Proven track record of director-level experience in a strategy role at a director level (e.g. Strategy Director, Planning Director, Head of Strategy)

- Demonstrable interest or engagement in responsible and/or inclusive marketing, with experience working in the DEI space

- Deep understanding of the impact of inclusion on marketing effectiveness and brand performance

- People management experience, including development planning and mentoring

- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to align strategic work with client outcomes and business goals

Preferred

· Experience in public speaking and workshop facilitation

· Experience in the sustainability space

· Experience working with large and complex client organisations

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

· Client impact and satisfaction: measured through feedback, retention, and continued relationships

· Strategic quality: quality of strategic outputs, as assessed through internal QA and client outcomes

· Revenue and profitability: contribution to financial targets across your client portfolio

· Team development: growth and retention of strategy team members under your leadership

· Product and service innovation: number and uptake of new strategic tools, products or frameworks taken to market

· Business growth: new business wins or upsell opportunities identified and converted
