We value a diverse, inclusive environment and a collaborative, respectful culture across the Club.The Role of the Academy DirectorThe Academy Director leads the Academy to become the most caring and progressive football Academy in the world. They will be an expert in player development with knowledge of recruitment and retention of youth players from U9 through to the B Team. The role delivers a programme that develops football, performance and social excellence, preparing players for successful professional football careers. The Director leads the Academy Leadership Team and ensures elite standards to support the Club in achieving Category 1 Academy status.Main AccountabilitiesDevelop young people by working with Human Development, Education and Player Support teams to provide opportunities for Social Excellence and holistic development; ensure access to elite education and long-term support; maintain outstanding educational provision and strong external relationships.Provide a safe environment for players and staff; uphold safeguarding standards and compliance with rules and regulations; maintain a high-calibre support system for emotional and physical wellbeing; ensure effective two-way communication with parents or guardians.Talent identification and transitions: collaborate with Recruitment and Academy staff to attract high-potential players and manage squads from U9 to the B Team; support transitions to the first team and create clear progression pathways; maintain robust retain and release processes with regular assessments.Create elite footballers: develop a football programme with the Head of Football Development to provide high-quality coaching across all age groups; understand talent profiling and mapping to support long-term development; maximise each top talent’s potential on and off the pitch.Develop staff: ensure roles are filled by high-quality performers; provide development plans, regular feedback and appraisals; create staff pathways and foster a high-performance culture.Leadership, Management and Strategy: lead the Academy strategy, ensure compliance with EPPP and Premier League rules, manage the budget with the Club, and stay aligned with trends and external expertise to keep the Academy at the forefront of practice.General Club AccountabilitiesComply with Club policies (health and safety, data regulations, etc.).Build and maintain professional relationships and protect confidential information.Maintain a flexible approach to work.Key Internal RelationshipsAcademy Leadership TeamAcademy Staff1st Team StaffFootball DirectorsOperational Risk, Safeguarding & Welfare DepartmentsCommunity Sports Trust ManagementPersonal CharacteristicsUEFA Pro Licence or UEFA A LicenceFA Advanced Youth AwardFirst Aid in FootballRelevant safeguarding qualificationsExperience of world-class talent development in an elite, high-performance environmentExperience leading peopleExperience with children and safeguarding standardsDiscretion with confidential informationInclusion and SafeguardingBrentford FC values equity, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all backgrounds.
