Overview

Account Director (Sports Sponsorships, PR Communications and Media) role at Octagon. This is a fixed contract until April 2026, with the potential to extend but no promises. The position is suitable for an Account Director or Senior Account Manager seeking a step up and who is energized by a dynamic, globally connected role. The role involves international sponsorships, travelling internationally on a regular basis, spending time on the ground with the client’s sponsorship team and attending key events across the globe.

You will be fully embedded in the client’s sports sponsorship team, collaborating globally across portfolios including Motorsports, Football, Golf, and Cricket, acting as an extension of the client’s internal team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute integrated sponsorship communications strategies and plans aligned with client objectives and wider corporate communications goals.
  • Craft clear, tactical communications briefs to amplify sponsorship activations and marketing initiatives, ensuring a consistent and unified brand voice across touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and rights holders to deliver cohesive communications for sponsorship campaigns, supporting strategic planning and on-the-ground execution at events.
  • Provide communications guidance and support for sponsorship activations and broader marketing projects across the client’s business.
  • Support wider Corporate Communications teams with engagement, briefing and reactive support across social, web, media relations, subject-matter experts and citizenship initiatives.
  • Ensure regular alignment with the client’s business Communications teams to leverage sponsorships for corporate goals.
  • Drive the delivery of sponsorship activations, events, and related activities including on-the-ground execution at key events as needed.
  • Assist with regular reporting to demonstrate effective communications across activations, working with sponsorship data, reputation and advocacy teams.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in agency, client, or rights-holder environments, managing sponsorship PR and communications.
  • Experience building and nurturing relationships with client stakeholders, staff, vendors, and partners.
  • Outstanding attention to detail with strong organisational, time and project management abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey ideas clearly and assertively, inspiring confidence and collaboration in meetings.
  • Ability to quickly grasp the client’s industry, brand, and product offerings.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with regular reporting to showcase effective communications across activations, coordinating with sponsorship data, reputation and advocacy teams.
