Overview

Accounting and Financial Reporting Associate Director role in Belfast, part of the Global Financial Statements (GFS) team within Finance Function Services. The role combines chargeable work and business development for a portfolio of large international clients, including household names.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the delivery of global financial reporting services on a portfolio of international clients, with support from the GFS Director.
  • Managing the working capital of the above projects including budgeting, cost management, billing and debt recoverability.
  • Ensuring resource is planned effectively and team members are briefed appropriately to deliver projects to clients in line with RSM’s quality guidelines and procedures.
  • Actively participating in business development; contributing to a coordinated business development plan with the Director and Partner group, including targeting and lead generation, supporting proposals to new clients and agreeing projects with the firm’s existing clients, from both a GFS, Belfast office and wider RSM perspective.
  • Providing insights to clients using the firm’s depth of resources and helping to introduce other service lines as relationships develop.
  • Acting as a senior team member and leader, modelling professional behavior for more junior managers.
  • Coaching and developing the team, including acting as a line manager, mentor and conducting appraisals.
  • Developing and maintaining an advanced level of technical knowledge through reading and courses to fulfil CPD requirements.
  • Overseeing and reviewing work completed by managers, supervisors and assistants to ensure policies and procedures are followed.
  • Carrying out other duties within the scope and purpose of the role as requested by leadership.
  • Willingness to travel to client premises or other regional offices as required; significant work is office-based within a fast-growing team.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should be ACA or ACCA qualified or equivalent, with a minimum of three years of experience at a manager level.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of client work within professional practice; transitioning from an audit role is acceptable.
  • A strong accounting and financial reporting skillset; desirable specialisms include:
  • IFRS or UK GAAP;
  • Complex UK GAAP reporting including group reorganisations and consolidations;
  • Sector specialisms (e.g., Legal, Technology, Manufacturing, Property).
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to build lasting client relationships.
  • Adaptable and collaborative team player able to work at all levels from trainee to Partner; strong coaching and development skills; experience as a line manager.
  • Strong business development contributor.
  • Ability to discuss initial thoughts on how to approach this area in the role at RSM during interviews.
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel).
  • Autonomous self-starter capable of delivering results.
